As we all know, technology projects on the border tend to be a bit different that other parts of the United States. Why, you ask? Because of the lack of technology knowledge. Companies are versed in knowing what to use, how to use it, and what it stands for? The biggest hurdle on the border and doing business on the border is the lack of education within the technology sector.

How does SOA and BPM fit into the picture you ask? Easier than expected.

First of all let’s outline some common definitions of the three areas are that we will be discussing. First, projects - project (anything outlined that has a clear and definitive start and end date. Second, SOA - Service Oriented Architecture

As co-founder of The Southwest Technology Consortium, I am extremely excited that what we are bringing El Paso is a one-stop-shop for technology!

As we all know, no matter how big you grow and how many people you want to help, that strategically it doesn’t make sense for any technology company to bite off more than they can chew. With that mentality, we have formed a Consortium that includes expertise across the technology sector provided by individual companies. With this focus, each company can retain their specialities, their focus and their strong points.

This concept allows for individuals and companies to benefit by calling one number which allows them access to a myriad of technology help! How many times have companies called numerous numbers looking for networking, website, database help and end up asking their current provider if they can accomplish all of these feats! Well, we now have an answer “The Southwest Technology Consortium!”

Let me give you a scenario: A business, let’s call it X business, is looking to grow in El Paso, needs and upgraded network, a new website, an upgrade from Quickbooks to a web based application, and are using Microsoft Access to handle all of their information needs outside of their Financial/HR application. On top of that, their reporting could be better, their processes need to be refined and they need documentation to handle training, standards and policies! Well, look no further than the consortium! We work as a team putting together the pieces needed to accomplish all of these tasks, assign someone in charge of organization, and work together for pricing, timelines, support/maintenance and delivery of all of these; within budget and on-time!

“The concept of a one-stop-shop makes sense!” stated Travis Hughes of AXA Advisors! Travis utilizes the consortium as his go-to partner for potential renter’s units within his building! “We offer the service because the concept is key, and the companies are extremely knowledgable!”

The consortium’s value and mission statement are as such:

Vision: The Vision for Southwest Technology Consortium is to bring technology, business knowledge, expertise, and know-how to the Southwest region and beyond.

Mission: The mission of the Southwest Technology Consortium is to provide innovate technology and business solutions through education, programs, and projects within the Southwest and beyond.

The Southwest Technology Consortium is a results based organization providing services and products to the southwest within the technology sector.

Has El Paso’s technology experts forgotten what makes business run? Applications!!

In El Paso, you never hear anything about applications, software, or solutions used to run business.

We have forums, groups, consortiums and other mediums representing networking, outsourced hosting, managed services, or web design.

Why start this blog? A couple of reasons:

1) Educate El Paso on Applications

2) Promote expertise

3) Grow knowledge

4) Open up a forum for application users

Who am I you ask? The Owner and President of an applications company. I had to travel many years and many miles before coming back to the place that I love El Paso. I wanted to do what I love best, help companies grow! I learned about applications over the years and have brought on the talent locally to help us grow and help El Paso grow as well.

Over the next days, months, years, you will hear my voice, read my blogs and potentially learn more than you ever wanted to regarding applications. What type you ask? Anything you could ever imagine. To give you a peek:

ERP, Financial, HR, CRM, Property Management, Construction Management, Business Intelligence, Reporting, Compliance, Business Process Management and not to forget custom applications.

Stay tuned!
